Before we even knew he was incredibly shady, State Representative Shimkus has been bounced from the ballot for not living in the 113th district. Not residing where his petition stated that he resided.
“Saying he intended to deceive voters about his address, a Commonwealth Court judge threw state Rep. Frank Shimkus off the Democratic ballot for state representative in the April 22 primary election.
‘The decision leaves former City Councilman Kevin Murphy as the only candidate on the Democratic ballot for the post, and gives him a leg up on winning the job in the November election. Mr. Shimkus said he would appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court.”
Correction and commentary as emailed from a reader:
State Rep. Frank Shimkus’ name was tossed off the ballot not because he didn’t reside in the district, but because he didn’t actually live in the home he listed on his nominating petitions.
Both his actual residence (in Throop) and his mail drop (on Boulevard Ave.) are within his district.
So–why lie?
Frank purchased the Throop home (for $370,000+) with his “fiance” and former WYOU employee Gabrielle Prutisto. He had told his parishioners that they wouldn’t be cohabitating until after the wedding.
He didn’t want to get caught in a lie–so he told a bigger lie–and got caught.
He was not bounced from the ballot for, as you say, “not living in the 113th district.”
